Been there, done that!

Have you ever seized the opportunity to tell someone that you've experienced EXACTLY what they are going through? Well, that's what my son did! Most people who know him know that he takes after me in expressing what's on his mind, at the exact moment he is thinking it. The luxury that he has, that I do not, is that he is a child who is not expected to demonstrate tact when expressing his views. But I guess that is what makes him (and all other children) say the darnedest things and make us adults smile and laugh in response.

Well, I found out a couple months ago that we are expecting our next child. Needless to say, this time around, I've experienced some pretty typical 1st trimester symptoms, including nausea. Leave it to my quick-witted son to conceive the notion that a fetus might experience stress as a result to the mother expelling her morning biscuit. Adding his two cents, after one of my bouts, he placed his head against my belly and whispered, "Don't worry, Baby, I've been in there before! Everything is going to be just fine!"

My husband and I are thrilled about this pregnancy! I am due in December and can't wait to add new and exciting tales to the Batman and Polka-dot Princess saga.

Coppertone Baby

For the last few months, my son has insisted on wearing pants everyday. Now that it's getting warmer (80 degrees or more) here in Florida, I have been trying to convince him to wear shorts. On this particular day, he was scheduled to have P.E. so I pulled out a t-shirt and a pair of shorts. When told him to go change out of his pajamas into the clothes I selected for the day, he throws the ultimate temper tantrum (although, I've heard girls tantrums about clothes are much, much worse!). Even after my attempts to educate him in the dangers of over-heating, he insisted on wearing jeans that day. I flat out refused. While standing in the doorway, getting ready to leave for school on his bike, his last desperate attempt to convince me was to say, sobbingly, "but Mom, I might get skin cancer if I wear shorts!" My solution? It just so happened that I had a can of Coppertone sunscreen (one of those new ones in a spray can) on a shelf next to the door. I quickly grabbed it and sprayed a liberal amount onto his exposed legs. The look on his face was priceless and one of defeat. Without another word, he turned, put his helmet on and rode off to school.

Our very own "Tauntaun"

I know that dog ownership has it's rewards, but by far the biggest reward is how our dog always makes us laugh. Since we adopted her, Sadie has been very protective, especially of me. She is our first alert of anyone coming into the house or of anyone sneaking around the kitchen. Usually, she will sound out a series of loud barks, but the other night was different. She was lying on the end of the bed, when she heard my father rummaging through the pantry for a late night snack. And instead of her normal bark, we heard her garble almost. The only thing that comes close to describing this garble is the sound Tauntauns make. I kid you not, it sounded just like this...(click here)

Intense Damage Repair

I had to get this on video. I asked Justin to go take a shower, as usual, and get ready for bed. After several minutes in the shower, I went in to check on him. I asked him what he was doing and he explained to me that he got this bruise on his chest and that he used Dove to fix it. Although this recording is the 2nd time he said it, it's just as funny. And, in his usual way, he played it out like he was on film, concluding with an "and CUT!"
