Coppertone Baby

For the last few months, my son has insisted on wearing pants everyday. Now that it's getting warmer (80 degrees or more) here in Florida, I have been trying to convince him to wear shorts. On this particular day, he was scheduled to have P.E. so I pulled out a t-shirt and a pair of shorts. When told him to go change out of his pajamas into the clothes I selected for the day, he throws the ultimate temper tantrum (although, I've heard girls tantrums about clothes are much, much worse!). Even after my attempts to educate him in the dangers of over-heating, he insisted on wearing jeans that day. I flat out refused. While standing in the doorway, getting ready to leave for school on his bike, his last desperate attempt to convince me was to say, sobbingly, "but Mom, I might get skin cancer if I wear shorts!" My solution? It just so happened that I had a can of Coppertone sunscreen (one of those new ones in a spray can) on a shelf next to the door. I quickly grabbed it and sprayed a liberal amount onto his exposed legs. The look on his face was priceless and one of defeat. Without another word, he turned, put his helmet on and rode off to school.
